GORGE AFRIYIE- "WE BELIEVE THAT HE WILL BE ABLE TO RECOVER IN TIME FOR THE NEXT MATCH"

Chairman of the Black Stars management committee, George Afriyie has revealed that defender Daniel Amartey is yet to hit full recovery after picking up a thigh sprain in the Black Stars 2-1 win over South Africa on Tuesday.

The FC Copenhagen centre-back was forced to limp off the pitch in the 33rd minute of the final Group C match due to the injury and was replaced by John Boye.

The medical team led by Dr. Adam Baba is still monitoring the fitness of the 20-year-old ahead of the Black Stars 2015 Africa Cup of Nations quarter final clash against the runner-up of Group D in Malabo.

“It was a slight thigh Sprain and as at this morning information coming from the medicals indicates that they seriously working on it. For now they still working on it and it will be difficult for me to tell what the situation is as at now. Fortunately for us our next game is on Friday and so we believe that he will be able to recover in time for the next game. It is unfortunate that Amartey picked the injury but we believe strongly that he will recover before our next match”.
