As we count down to AFCON, I would like to appreciate the
president of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema for taking a bold decision to step as a replacement for the North
African, following Morocco’s withdrawal as host nation of the AFCON 2015
tournament over fears of exposing the country
to the deadly Ebola virus.
There were fears that the tournament would be
called off but President Obiang Nguema stepped in to save the continental
tournament.
His Excellency Obiang Nguema, who has been the president of
Equatorial Guinea since 1979, further confirmed his passion for football on the
continent by vowing to personally pay for 40,000 tickets for the 2015 AFCON so
that the poor can attend matches.
AYIKOOOOOO PRESIDENT TEODORO OBIANG NGUEMA
