Guinea faces Ghana in the Quater finals on sunday



 





Guinea has been drawn to face the Black stars in the quarterfinals of the 2015 African Cup of nations after winning the draw of lots.
The CAF Article 74 came into play to be the solution to who Ghana will face when Mali and Guinea had finished level in every category of Group D.
The rule is also used by the world governing football body Fifa.

GORGE ASHIE DISAPOINTED WITH THE ACTIONS OF THE MCDON PROMOTER










   
WBO Africa Lightweight Champion, George Ashie has expressed his displeasure at the CEO of McDon Promotions McDon Atitsogbe for issuing a dishonored cheque to the Ghana Boxing Authority. The Red Tiger was part of the fighters who fought on McDon Promotions on December 5th boxing bill at the Accra Sports Stadium but has still not received his payment since the promoter has absconded. The Ghana Boxing Authority has reported the case to the police but George Ashie is disappointed at the promoter McDon Atitsogbe’s actions.“
I am disappointed because if you fight and you are not paid how will you be able to go the hospital to treat yourself when you have attain injury from your opponent”


WOMEN HOCKEY TEAM AIMS HIGHER RANKING AT WORLD LEVEL



 
 
The senior national women’s hockey team will fly to India on March 2nd to participate in the Second Round of the World Hockey League, which runs from March 7th to 15th.

The team is holding non-residential camping sessions at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey pitch.

Ghana will be seeking to beat off competition from India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Poland, Singapore, Russia and Thailand to book a place in the semi-final of the World Hockey League in Paris, France.

Technical Committee Chairman of the national women’s hockey side, George Haizel expects a positive display at the 8-team competition to improve Ghana’s ranking from the current 30th spot.

“The purpose of this tournament is to help Ghana improve on its ranking at the world level. We are currently ranked 30th in the world and we think that we need to play more of this tournament so that we can improve on our ranking”

GORGE AFRIYIE- "WE BELIEVE THAT HE WILL BE ABLE TO RECOVER IN TIME FOR THE NEXT MATCH"



 

Chairman of the Black Stars management committee, George Afriyie has revealed that defender Daniel Amartey is yet to hit full recovery after picking up a thigh sprain in the Black Stars 2-1 win over South Africa on Tuesday.

The FC Copenhagen centre-back was forced to limp off the pitch in the 33rd minute of the final Group C match due to the injury and was replaced by John Boye.

The medical team led by Dr. Adam Baba is still monitoring the fitness of the 20-year-old ahead of the Black Stars 2015 Africa Cup of Nations quarter final clash against the runner-up of Group D in Malabo.

“It was a slight thigh Sprain and as at this morning information coming from the medicals indicates that they seriously working on it. For now they still working on it and it will be difficult for me to tell what the situation is as at now. Fortunately for us our next game is on Friday and so we believe that he will be able to recover in time for the next game. It is unfortunate that Amartey picked the injury but we believe strongly that he will recover before our next match”.

GRANT NOT HEEDING TO JUDGEMENT PASSED ON JORDAN A




Avram Grant: 'It's too early to judge Jordan Ayew'Ghana coach Avram Grant has shut his ears from judgment  passed on  Black stars striker Jordan Ayew after Tuesday's third Group C victory over South Africa, at the Estadio De Mongomo.
Ayew, from the commencement of the tournament has undergone massive pressure from some Sports pundits and fans over his performance.
After the 2-1 match, Grant stated clearly in an interview that it was too early for people to pass judgment on the performance of the players in the competition.
“We have just played three matches in the competition and I cannot use these matches to pass any verdict on him.
“He may end it as one of the best players in the competition if we progress to the finals. I don’t think it is proper to judge him now," Grant stated.
According to the Israeli boss, he will make an informed statement on the players only after the competition.
Speaking on the match against the Bafana Bafana Squad, the former Chelsea boss explained that, his team keep improving after each match and was satisfied with the level of performance they put up against South Africa.
“We have a very strong team, who are ready to face any opponent and they have exhibited this in all the matches played so far.
“If we continue to play like this, I am certain we will progress very far in the competition.”
Ghana will find out its opponent in the last eight later today after the Cameroon tackles Ivory Coast and Mali take on Guinea
