RFEREES CALL FOR EQUALL RECOGNITION AFTER OFFICIATING IN THE 2015 AFCON

Referee Malik Alidu Salifu believes he and his colleague Joseph Lamptey should have been recognized by the President John Mahama for being picked to represent the nation at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
The pair were the only two Ghanaian match officials in the list of 44 referees for the competition.
The Black Stars were hosted at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday in a breakfast meeting. And, Alidu Salifu, a FIFA referee, tells Starr FM Sports they should have also been recognized.
“They should’ve mentioned our names too, because we represented Ghana.
Look at the number of FIFA referees we have in the continent. Every continent have less than Five referees and we have about 53 countries in Africa but the collected only 44 referees and we happened to be part of it so I thought in my candid opinion, the kind of publicity given players could have equally been given to us.

Though we had a little publicity from you the media, Black stars could have also added it even though we were not going to officiate in their matches, the fact that Ghana was attached to our name I believe that, we should have also be called to pay homage to the president as the Black stars did”.
