Boxing referee, Roger
Barnor has revealed his readiness to officiate in any boxing bout involving WBA
Intercontinental Lightweight champion, Emmanuel Tagoe in the near future. The
ring official was originally named as the referee for Tagoe’s recent bout
against Tanzanian Sadiki Momba but decided to reject the appointment after
discussing the offer with his family. Barnor was handed a three-match suspended
by the Ghana Boxing Authority in 2013 for bias officiating in a fight between
Emmanuel Tagoe and Fillipino Ronald Pontillas. Though he did not take the
opportunity to redeem his image in the Tagoe-Momba bout, Roger Barnor tells
Starr FM Sports he will be willing to officiate any other bout featuring
Emmanuel Tagoe in the future.
“I am ready to officiate in any bout that involves
Emmanuel Tagoe, I didn’t want to officiate in this bout because of the advice I
received from my family members. They told me to let this appointment slip off
and prepare for a different one. But I am ever already to referee in Tagoe’s
bout to redeem my image”
