The former
Vice president of Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation, Gideon Quartey expects the nation’s
least financed Sporting disciplines to put a temporary hold on running their
respective associations since government is unready to support their
activities. Over the last three years, 36 sports Associations under the
National Sports Authority have not received any funding from the Budgetary
allocation for Sports in the country.
Gideon Quartey believes the time has come
for all sporting associations to halt their operations for a while.
“Since
we are not getting the necessary support from government, I think we the lesser
known sports disciplines should all pause.
We shouldn’t compete in any
international competitions. Because the Government is not feeding us with the necessary
tools to attend that international competitions and even the training aspect we
lack behind”
